Honda presented a new electric bike: advantages and description

Honda recently unveiled a new high-performance electric motorcycle concept as part of its expanded transportation electrification program.

According to a press release, the new production model is expected to go on sale in 2025. The Honda EV Fun concept aims to “deliver a new emotional experience that is very different from ICE motorcycles.”

The battery (type and capacity not yet disclosed) will provide a range of up to 62 miles (likely based on testing in Japan) and can be charged using a Combined Charging Standard (CCS) port.

Honda has partnered with companies representing nearly half the global EV market to establish a standard for swappable batteries so that riders don’t have to wait at public fast-charging stations.

Until now, Honda has stated that it will primarily electrify mopeds and scooters. In other words, the EV Fun concept suggests that it is not worth wasting time trying to take a leading position in the electric sport bike market. Earlier attempts to turn electric motorcycles into sport bikes were unsuccessful, the most notable failures being the Brammo and Lightning. On the other hand, the successful sales of the Harley-Davidson LiveWire indicate that there is a niche in the market. For this reason, Honda hopes that the new e-bike will find its fans.
